Day 1 Depart USA
Day 2 Arrive Istanbul. Upon arrival, we will transfer to our coach and commence introductions and orientation. On the way to the hotel, we will take a brief driving tour of Istanbul. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 3 Our first full day of discovery will start with a full breakfast (as always) at the hotel. The program calls for a full day walking tour of Istanbul's most prominent sties, including Tokapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia. In the evening we will be given a lecture on Ottomon history. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 4 Following breakfast, We will explore some of Istanbul's out of the way sites such as the Chora Church. We will visit the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, the Sultan Suleiman Mosque and the covered markets. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 5 Today is a free day for you to explore Istanbul as you would like. Dinner is at the hotel.
Day 6 Today we embark for the Anatolian Peninsula by way of the Dardenelles. It is a long drive with stunning views. The drive will be punctuated by a short ferry across the Dardenelles and by a visit to the archarological site of Troy. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 7 Today calls for a full day journey to Bergama (ancient Pergamum) which has extensive archaeological excavations. We will visit the acropolis as well as the Asclepion before moving on to Ephesus. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 8 Following breakfast we make our way to the excavations at Ephesus. The extent of the excavations is so great that exploration will take the better part of the day and we will not see it all. The museum in Selcuk is well worth making time for. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 9 The journey comes to an end, when you are transferred to the airport for your return flight to JFK. Bon Voyage!
